We went to Vaquero’s Club, now held at the Buttershaw Lane WMC in Bradford, when it was our first time at this very well run club.
It was our second chance to see what I consider to be the best band to grace the Country music scene for many years, New England. This brilliant four piece band has been put together by George Moulder who, for many years fronted the excellent Raising Cain band. All four are brilliant musicians and the lead vocals by George and drummer Phil are enhanced by superb four part harmonies which really are exceptional. The club has its own sound technician, Sammy, who balances the sound perfectly which makes it very comfortable listening.
Vaquero’s is very well run by Darren and Elaine who are keen to keep the struggling band scene alive and have so far had bands on all their monthly shows. Their next night, on June 18th, is with the fabulous Haleys, followed by a great programme for this year, so I can only urge anyone who wants a superb night to get to this excellent venue for a truly brilliant time and, incidentally, they have Mick Sagar as compere and cheap beer prices, so what more could you want.
